(20% discount) Project Recipients Americas Kids Against Crime is a program that uses Tae Kwon Do as a vehicle to reach at risk children. The martial arts tradition is used to educate children in principles of goal setting, discipline, and self-esteem. Our donation will be used to help purchase the equipment needed to host tournaments; this in turn will allow the program to become financially independent. Boy Scouts of America, Cimarron Council mission is to prepare
young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes
by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The money
distributed to the Cimarron Council will be used to implement the "Race
to Cub Scouting" campaign. This campaign will market directly to
youth and families by selling the values of the scouting program. CDSA provides an intense summer reading program through the Steve Sheik Memorial Tutoring Program. This program helps children to maintain skills they have already acquired and helps them to start the new school year with significantly improved skills. The money they receive from JWL will help insure that this very successful program has the funding necessary to continue. Enid Fire Department Child Passenger Safety program provides education and assistance with child safety seat installation. Our donation will provide safety seats and installation supplies for those who can not afford to buy their own. Enid Public School Foundation provides grants to applying teachers twice a year so that they can implement innovative and exciting projects and secure much needed materials for their schools. Our funds will help promote academic excellence for Enid school children. Hope Outreach, Inc. has a program called "Earn While You Learn." This ministry rewards learning, fosters responsibility, and nurtures relationships, by teaching our clients healthy parenting skill, while helping them meet the needs of their babies through the "Mommy Store." Our donation would be used to supply car seats to the "Mommy Store", which could be purchased with the client's mommy/daddy dollars. New Horizons Counseling Center provides counseling to low income families, couples and individuals in our community. They have served the Enid community for 18 years, and have never turned anyone away for financial reasons. Our donation will help provide counseling for several low income families. Salvation Army Summer Day Camp is for children age's five to twelve and serves the poor and working poor of Enid who cannot afford the regular price of daycare for their children. The children participate in field trips, sporting events, educational activities and ministry. Our funds will be used to provide scholarships for underprivileged children to attend this camp. Youth & Family Services is in the middle of a capital campaign to raise funds to build a new youth shelter. Hundreds of youth in Enid need a safe place to stay each year while waiting for a suitable home-placement. The new facility will allow the shelter to serve 18 children at a time with more flexibility in the mix of genders and would have better security and supervision. The money JWL gives would be used exclusively for the youth shelter. YWCA Children's Learning Center is a daycare that provides a positive learning environment for children. They are a DHS licensed, two-star facility. Ninety-eight percent of the families who utilize the learning center are funded through DHS assistance. The money JWL gives the YWCA would be used to provide certain items in each classroom in order to meet the licensing requirements of DHS.
